Professor Terry Alford and research team earn patent.

Arizona State University Professor Terry Alford, Ph.D., along with Drs Martin Mitan and James W. Mayer have been awarded a patent on a new ion beam technology. The patent is for a method where very narrowly focused beams of charged particles called ions, are used to create a specialized layer on silicon wafers. According to Dr. Alford, silicon wafers are the heart of "any memory type devices from the micro-processor that tells you your car door is agar to your Pentium 4."
